About me

I am a Ramón y Cajal Fellow and Associate Professor at the Universidad Carlos III and the Carlos III-Juan March Institute. I am also a Honorary Fellow in the Department of Politics at the University of York (UK).

I hold a D.Phil. in Political Science from the University of Oxford (Nuffield College), and I am a Doctor Member of the Juan March Institute. Previously, I have been Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of York. My dissertation, The Politics of Distribution, was awarded with the PSA 2012 Arthur McDougall Fund Prize for the best British dissertation on elections, electoral systems or representation.

My research has been published in International Organization, British Journal of Political Science, European Journal of Political Research, Public Choice, or Party Politics, among others.

My research interests lie at the intersection between comparative politics, and political behaviour and combines the use of observational data, survey experiments, and quasi-experimental methods.
